Activism for progressive change happening in Ottawa
People are fed up with traditional politics. They know something needs to be done, and they aren’t willing to leave it to politicians. They’re taking responsibility into their own hands. Even Barack Obama used to be a community organizer.
The current generation of organizers and activists are coming together this Nov 20-22 in Ottawa. The occasion: the Organizing For Justice conference.
This is meant as a time for people to connect around the themes of social, economic, and environmental justice, and healthy communities: to develop strategy, to share vision, and to work on skills and tools that will help them in their efforts to effect change. All people who share these interests and values are welcome to attend and be a part.
There’ll be plenty of opportunity for expanding horizons and getting into the nitty-gritty of organizing effective communities for change.

8:00 PM START TIME
www.myspace.com/orbweavers

Lisa Poushinsky: The candy-coloured dress and skinny bass caught your eye but it’s the trembling vocals and vibrating guitar that slide down the back of your neck like a fingernail, pulling you off the street and into the bar. You’ve found yourself in the middle of an L.Poushinsky show. By turns playful, funky, and thoughtful, at times deeply dark and downright hair-raising, eLp hooks her audience with slippery vocal stylings and reels ‘em in with the confident delivery of quirky, catchy melodies and sophisticated lyrics. With elements from jazz, motown, blues, pop / rock, cabaret, and country, eLp’s sets range across a wide and surprising musical landscape.
The Orb Weavers: All the way from P.E.I.! Playing a fusion of psychedelic, rock and country. John Mullins: Guitar Shane Coady: Drums/Vocals Pat Deighan: Vocals/Guitar Dan Wagner: Bass/Vocals
