WENESDAY SEPTEMBER 23rd 2009

Umi Café announces the launching of James Cockcroft’s new trilingual poetry book “WHY? ¿POR QUÉ? POURQUOI?” All author’s royalties plus 10% of each individual book sale and 25% of purchases of more than one copy go to the families of the Cuba 5, heroes of Cuba unjustly incarcerated in US prisons for 11 years for having fought against terrorism. The author will sign copies sold at 33% discount. There will be dialogue with the public on various themes raised in the multilingual reading.

6:30 PM to 10 PM.

Reviews:

Here we find tribute to love in all its forms. And as a bonus, we can rediscover how a good poem in English is somehow always a little sadder, triumphant, or sexier when it's said in Spanish. -- R.D. Roy

Cockcroft fija sus pasos a la evocación de reencuentros que siguen huellas trazadas en ciclos sucesivos, “presente”: “Porque seguimos caminando… unificados en el espíritu del Che”. -- Pablo Armando Fernández

What Cockcroft lives and depicts best is “Presente,” that concept that understands the thin line between love and grief. -- Katharine Beeman
