June 2010 at a Glance - Umi Cafe Events

Okay, alright! So you want to have more notice when it comes to Planet Umi's events. How about I show you what I got planned for the rest of the month and update you on the shows that pop-up fresh for you to savour?
Thursday June the 24th at 8pm - 5$
Florquestra Basil of whom Cormac Rea for the Ottawa Xpress praises thus:
"No surprise that the heat keeps rising into the weekend at Mercury Lounge. Just pronouncing Florquestra Brasil makes me warmer, and that, ladies and gentlemen, is what is on offer this eve. A bonafide bossa nova samba band from Guimaraes and Sao Paulo, Florquestra Brasil will make your heart weep for sunburns while you burn up the wooden floor." January 2009
Saturday the 26th of June at 8pm - 5$
Shaman Rythms come and set the latin vibes up with some masterful guitar play that blend nouveau spanish guitar with percussion with a healthy dose of contemporary world music influences.
Every Sunday, starting on the 17th of June from 9 - 9:45am - Donation based
Further on, Angelina Mendes is conducting a meditation session, blessing Umi Cafe's space before it opens up, come, bring your yoga mat and contribute to the wellbeing of the collective conscious through your own, at Umi Cafe.

Plan B welcomes One Big Smile and Music People. Plan B always promises and delivers the goodies for your soul's beat.

Voices of Venus feature Amal El-Mohtar!

A comment to Umi.... your website is still advertising the cafe as co-operatively run, while a visit I paid recently told me otherwise, that it has a sole owner. Best to update these things rather than falsely advertise.
