Voices of Venus - Tuesday

Tuesday March 10, 2009

Voices From Venus

A call to mothers, sisters, daughters to come together and celebrate women spoken word artists.
The poetry scene in Ottawa is exploding, but there is still a shortage of women slamming a spoken word events. This does not mean there is a lack of. There are tons of amazing women who blow minds with their wordplay.

Voices from Venus is a night dedicated to the women spoken word artists of Ottawa and the World.
Queens, bring your stories, experiences, soliloquies, monologues and word castles and recite, with all your fellow sisters, in a way only a mother could.
An open and welcoming atmosphere for first timers, so make sure you come out, and if you just want to sit back and listen, it will be a night not to miss.

SongWriters Roundabout'

The 'Songwriters Roundabout' night at the Umi Cafe consists of a group of local singers, songwriters and musicians who present their material in order to develop songs, and for the betterment of all.

Group members perform original songs, songs-in-progress, recite lyrics and sometimes collaborate, all the while further developing each other's music.

This songwriter's circle is an open circle with a 'united vision' to help raise each other up creatively and constructively.

Feedback and participation is encouraged.

Open Jam Sessions - Back to the Jazz

A call out to musicians who like to ride train of the moment. Artists to like
to make a call to the spirits, uprooting ancient souls from the dead to dance.
There is no better moment than now, and this night is dedicated to the vibrations of today,
of the instant, which is all that is connected to eternity.
All musicians welcome. This does not mean a chaotic rant of un-cohesive melodies.
While the freedom is supreme, the vibe is the end to all.
The aim is to follow each other in harmony, but in the moment.
