Greetings Brothers and Sisters
In this time of collective concern and mourning, the Staff and community in and around
Umi Cafe sends their prayers and thoughts to those victims of the earthquake in Haiti,
as well as to the family members here in Canada desperately waiting for news from their family.
Umi Cafe will be accepting donations, which we will be providing two organizations,
the Canadian Red Cross & Partners in Health (www.pih.org).
So far with our fundraisers friday and saturday, we have raised over $350.00.
We stand in solidarity with the global community who watches, sharing the pain
and sorrow as well as mobilizing themselves to provide much needed relief to the
devastated areas.
This tragedy has also affected one of our community members.
Jean-François Complot, frequented our corner, often sharing his great skill, wisdom and joy
with us freely. He was in Haiti visiting his mother when the earthquake happened. His family is still unable to locate him.
We extend our support to the family of Jean-Francois, better known around here as Heru.
We hope and pray that he is safe in this time of much turmoil.
